Back in high school, Melissa was dating on-again, off-again with the school quarterback. Turning him down should have been the end of it, however, Tucker went on to be a famous singer and wrote a few songs about her. Something which has led to some hard times in her life.
Despite having hopes of escaping her hometown Melissa is still there, waitressing to make ends meet. Her parents were killed in an accident a few years ago led to her staying to look after her younger siblings. During a shift at the restaurant, she is surprised to find Tucker James back home and hopes that she can keep out of his way. Their paths cross time and time again she is confused about the boy/man who made himself famous from songs about her.
Navigating a friendship of sorts, they connect over the holidays with revelations about their history revealed. Whilst Melissa shares her hopes for the future now that her siblings are flying the nest. But Tucker hasn’t told the full story about why he is home for the holidays and how long he intends to stay.
