Fizzing with rhythm, energy and laughter, the 30 poems in Ready for Spaghetti delight in the details of children’s daily routines.
I’m ready for spaghetti
Will you getti the spaghetti?
Don’t say, “Not yetti spaghetti!”
‘cos I’m all setti for spaghetti.
Michael Rosen’s irresistible rhymes follow readers from the second they jump up, up, uppity-up out of bed to the hush and a hush as they finally drift off to sleep. With beautifully observed pictures from Polly Dunbar, this book will make you want to tap your feet, clap your hands and chant along, over and over (and over) again!
Ready for Spaghetti: Funny Poems for Funny Kids
Written by Michael Rosen
Illustrated by Polly Dunbar
Published by Walker Books
With play and creativity at the heart of this collaboration, this was a book created out of the conversation between poem and illustration; encouraging playfulness, spontaneity, and a familiarity with words and rhyme, both the words and pictures are loose and free. This book is a book to help every child chat and play and draw and make up songs – and be imaginative and creative.
Our thoughts on Ready for Spaghetti
This is one of those books that when you tell your children that they can only have one or two poems read before bed, you won’t mind reading another couple when they inevitably ask for another one. Take children on a journey throughout their everyday routine across 30 funny, repetitive poems that will have them learning through play whilst marvelling at the beautiful illustrations.
A beautiful book that will be enjoyed time and time again with parents, grandparents, siblings and on their own too.
