Whilst celebrating her middle sister’s hen party, Daisy finds herself hidden away in a booth rather than up on the dance floor with the rest of the hens. When she finds Mason Carlisle standing by her striking up a conversation. Why would he be talking to her? She is fully aware that she is referred to as the ‘other one’ Mcgregor sister rather than the ‘pretty one’ or the ‘cute one’. Suddenly she understands his intent after overhearing a conversation he has with his brother Spencer. Mason was acting as his wingman to distract Daisy, whilst Spencer made a move on Daff (the pretty one).

Feeling a mixture of guilt and a strange pull towards Daisy, Mason agrees to be her wingman at her sister’s upcoming wedding. Attempting to make things smoother for her when family and friends make a comment about her being single and alone etc. Although she tries to back out of the proposition, Mason stands firm and they find themselves in a fake relationship with some amazing benefits.

Although this is all for show right? Mason just feels sorry and guilty for her and she can’t possibly know what love is when she’s lacking inexperience.

Daffodil McGregor is sure that love is not for her. She has been burnt in the past with some uncomfortable experiences and is still trying to discover what she wants out of life. She is thrown to discover that Spencer Mason will be the best man at her younger sister’s (Daisy) wedding – meaning that she and Spencer will have to get along for the sake of the wedding. The problem being is that they have a history, in that Spencer has always held a torch for Daff, whilst she has rejected him time and time again.

Becoming friends in order to make all the arrangements necessary for the wedding, they discover that maybe they can be friends with benefits – no strings attached. Each helps each other as they navigate their true feelings and what they would like to happen in the past. But the road to love is never smooth especially when you throw in family interference and surprises.

When Dahlia called off her wedding a year ago to Clayton he withdrew into herself and closed herself off emotionally. She has kept herself busy with helping out at the preschool, local charities and assisting family and friends. Rediscovering who she is in life and what she wants from the future, not that she believes that she will ever find love, marriage and babies etc.

Sam Brand is Mason’s best friend and former business partner, after being injured in the line of duty as a close protection officer he is forced to recuperate for a few months. Instead of staying close to home and leaving with the press intrusion, he heads to Riversend. Although he hadn’t banked on seeing Dahlia again – especially after their one night stands at the hen party and wedding of Daisy and Mason.

Sam is a man who is not looking for anything serious and somehow convinces Dahlia to not only help take care of him whilst he is in Riversend but to embark on a rebound fling. Although Dahlia has rules in place to protect them both against falling in love etc. Hiding their fling from the family they manage to enjoy each other’s company and suddenly they aren’t sure whether they can see their lives without each other – but there are obstacles standing in their way.
