Returning to Winterdale after college Melody has enjoyed working in the local library. The death of her mom six months ago has had her life swallowed up by debts. Taking on not one but two extra jobs in order to ensure she is able to have a home for her older military brother. Exhausted she has been hiding everything from Aron her brother’s best friend and turned to her landlord to offload her worries, who offered a marriage proposal. Although he is 40 years older than her, been married multiple times but he can take all her money worries away.

After spending many years in the military, Carter has begun to adjust to civilian life. Living in the Wildwood Forest in the cabin his best friend (and brother-in-law) helped build for his return home. Now working as a lumberjack he is heading home for the day when he hears noises close by. Discovering a group of teens having a campout in the forest, seemingly not fazed that one of their group hasn’t returned since getting firewood. Thankfully ‘Rose’ appears and Carter is taken aback by her beauty. Feeling protective of her as her campmates are ‘off’ towards her.

Realising that coming on this camping trip was an error, Rose decides to get an early night. Feeling uncomfortable in her tent as well as the feeling she is being watched. A bear visit in the early hours of the morning has her rescued by a mountain man who takes her back to his cabin. Sharing cocoa and snippets about themselves becomes clear that Carter is someone she knows about through her military father – causing Carter to withdraw from Rose.

Surprised to find that Rose was his military best friend’s daughter, Carter feels conflicted over his feelings for her. Deciding that he can’t bear to be away from her he invites her for dinner which leads to so much more but as her mom discovers their love – will this put an end to their growing love?
