Great Lives in Graphics: Nikola Tesla is a graphic retelling of Tesla’s story which gives children a colourful snapshot of his life and the world in which he grew up, whilst educating them on everything from alternating current to the power of the imagination
Great Lives in Graphics Nikola Tesla
In an engaging graphic style, this book explains to children aged 8 to 12 the world into which Tesla was born and lived. It details the circumstances of his childhood in the former Austrian Empire and the many influences that led to his life-long fascination and work led to advances in radio, lighting, X-rays, radar and electrical engineering, but also of how he got things wrong, made mistakes and made grand claims that have never been proven (such as the construction of a death ray!).
The book also tells readers of his famous feud with the rival inventor and engineer Thomas Edison and of Tesla’s many quirks and eccentricities, such as his obsession with number 3, his phobia of germs, his love of pigeons and his hatred of pearls.
Nikola Tesla had flair for both science and showmanship and the master of electricity earned a reputation at a time when electricity was transforming the world. This graphic retelling of Nikolas story gives children a visual snapshot of his life, the world he grew up in, and his influence on modern technology all while educating them on everything from how electricity works to the power of the imagination.
