Maxine Morrey has wanted to be a writer for as long as she can remember and wrote her first (very short) book for school when she was ten. As years went by, she continued to write, but ‘normal’ work often got in the way. She has written articles on a variety of subjects, as well as a local history book on Brighton. However, novels are her first love.
When not wrangling with words loves to read, sew and listen to podcasts. Being a fan of tea and cake means she can (should!) also be found out on a walk.

In an Instagram world, can you find love just by being yourself…
Libby is a lifestyle blogger living in Brighton, she has a happy-go-lucky bubbly nature. Focusing on the positives in her life rather than what she is missing. Needing help with her accounts, her best friend arranges for Charlie to pop over one Saturday morning to see if he can help.
Charlie is a risk analyst, a logical thinker and has a reserved nature. As soon as he meets Libby she is unlike anyone he has ever met. Immediately putting him at ease and a friendship blossoms between them. Each gives support, companionship and entertainment to the other.
Told from Libby’s point of view, you are shown the realities of blogging (including the backlash that comes with it), how not everything you see is the whole truth and how sometimes you have to say the difficult thing – even though it might be easier to say nothing.
I would have loved an epilogue chapter to this story. Feeling as though it left me with unanswered questions.
Available to buy from Amazon in Paperback, Audiobook and Kindle Edition.
My Year Of Saying No (2020) by Maxine Morrey
Lottie Wentworth has never been more pleased to hear Big Ben ring in the new year and wave goodbye to The Year of Saying Yes!
Meet Lottie a Virtual Personal Assistant, who loves her pj’s a little too much but when you work from home does it really matter? After suffering heartbreak in the past her best friend convinces her to a year of saying yes. Yes to new opportunities, yes to new adventures and yes to dates that she’d rather not do.
The story starts at the end of this year with her first ‘no’ experience. Something which kick starts a year of saying no. The first person she tells is her client Seb via video chat. Over the last few years, they have become friends as well as employers/employees. Although there is a complication, Lottie has a little bit of a crush on Seb. Of course, she couldn’t, wouldn’t do anything about it as he is a client. Her biggest client, in fact, so it would be both personally and financially stupid to pursue this little crush.
Follow Lottie throughout the year, as she gets a dog, meets Seb in real life and says no to the things she doesn’t want to do (and even some of the things she’d love to do).
Devoured this book in a day, too eager to see what happened next with Lottie and Seb. The chemistry between them leapt off the page. It had me laughing, cringing and crying along with them.
Available to buy from Amazon in Paperback, Audiobook and Kindle Edition.

A young woman forced to reevaluate her life after an accident, who realises that there is more to life than work, and whose first love makes a very welcome reappearance.
