The Buy-In: A Sweet Small-Town Romantic Comedy

Author: Emma St. Clair
Book Series: Love Stories in Sheet Cake Sweet Rom Com Series Book 1

This is a second chance marriage of convenience romantic comedy following a family of brothers who buy a small Texas town. Filled with plenty of sizzle while keeping the bedroom door closed.

I knew better than to fall for NFL player Patrick Graham. No way will I make this mistake twice–even if he is my husband.

Six years ago, I fell in love when I shouldn’t have. And I learned my lesson when he got drafted and left without so much as a goodbye.

So, when Patrick shows up on my front porch and tells me his family just bought my whole town, I will not give into his charm a second time.

The Grahams might be just what Sheet Cake, Texas needs to get back on its feet.

Not me. I’m doing just fine. But I don’t need Patrick sweeping in back in like he never left. Even if I’m taking care of my mom and raising my niece in a house that’s falling apart around me.

Until … my sister decides she wants custody of Jo, and the state decides she’d be better in a two-parent household.
Guess who steps up, more than happy to fill that role?
I agree to marry Patrick for Jo, and only for Jo. But as he does everything he can for both of us, I start to wonder if resisting Patrick Graham is an exercise in futility.

“In a relationship, sometimes one person needs more help and support than the other. At another time, it may flip. And still other times, it might be totally equal give-and-take. For now, you need support and I’m freely giving it.”

It was only ever supposed to be a casual relationship before she headed off to travel the world and he was waiting for the NFL draft. The Bluff: A Sweet Small-Town Romantic Comedy

Author: Emma St. Clair
Book Series: Love Stories in Sheet Cake Sweet Rom Com Series Book 2

The Bluff is an enemies-to-lovers, grumpy boss rom-com set in the fictional small town of Sheet Cake, Texas. You’ll find plenty of laughs and sizzling chemistry in this closed-door romantic comedy. It’s the second in a series, but can be read as a standalone.

I won’t be winning any employee of the year awards. But only because my boss is the grumpy boss to end all grumpy bosses. Did I mention he doesn’t trust me to do my job?

Challenge accepted.

Not only am I going to help James launch a successful brewery, but I’m going to find out what makes him tick … and what makes him go boom.
All this has nothing to do with the fact that the man is unbearably, unfairly, unignorably (is that a word?) attractive. Or that he lost his mom when he was young, same as me.

The more he pushes me away, the more I’m pulled into his orbit. It’s a battle of stubborn wills, and I don’t plan to concede anytime soon.
Except the more time I spend around James Graham, the more I start to lose the one thing I refuse to give to any man … my heart.

My attraction to her is a reflex, one I plan to eradicate. So far, it’s like trying to stop myself from sneezing.

Totally Booked UK Review

Moving to Sheet Cake was not something James thought he’d be doing, especially at the prospect of opening a brewery/bar for his Dark Horse craft beer range. Celebrating his thirtieth birthday by standing in front of the warehouse that will house the brewery his family have all invested in. Not particularly fussed about his birthday, he is known to be somewhat of the grump of the Graham family. Something that comes to the surface whenever Winnie is nearby, and as his new assistant, he is prepared to be extra grumpy (to cover his true feelings).

Winnie has been holding off on selling her neighbourly app and currently finds herself sofa-surfing at her brother’s apartment and taking a new job with the most infuriating man, James Graham. He also happens to be totally hot, but after her recent break-up, she is questioning her love life. Her friends tell her she sticks to safe guys that won’t break her heart.

Their working relationship is fraught with the push-and-pull of each other’s boundaries. James is very defensive over his brewery, although somewhat overwhelmed by it all. Wini manages to insert herself into different areas of his life, including his family. They clash, and they rub each other up the wrong way, but there is a fine line between love and hate.

A Holly Jilly Christmas: A Sweet Holiday Romantic Comedy Novella

Author: Emma St. Clair
Book Series: Love Stories in Sheet Cake Sweet Rom Com Series Book 2.5

A Holly Jilly Christmas is a grumpy sunshine Christmas novella set in the world of Sheet Cake, Texas. You’ll get all the chemistry and laughs in this closed door romance.

My life is nothing like the movies we make at the studio where I work–especially not when it comes to relationships.

Which means that there will be absolutely NO romance between me and Case, the grumpy exec I’ve had a crush on from our very first not-so-meet-cute.
We’re simply two coworkers scouting the town of Sheet Cake, Texas as a location for filming.
That’s it.

Though, to be honest, I’m suspicious of why Case came on this trip at all.
Whatever the reason, there will be no Christmas magic, and definitely NO mistletoe kisses.
But when Case actually starts talking to me–gasp!–and reveals the humor and kindness buried beneath his gruff persona, my little crush explodes into something a lot harder to hide.

Except he’s harbouring secrets of his own.
And I’m starting to wonder if his cagey behaviour is because he’s planning to take credit for my (admittedly brilliant) idea to make this town our central filming hub.
He’s not that kind of man … right?

All I wanted for Christmas was a promotion, and now I’m falling for the man who might be trying to steal it.

“And when I’m serious about something, I am wholly focused and completely consumed.”

Totally Booked UK Review

Heading out on a location scouting trip should be a fun way to spend a few days before the holidays start. That would be if Jilly weren’t driving in the snow, in the dark and with one of her colleagues, Case, in her car and having formed a crush on him on her first day when she quite literally walked into him in the elevator. You can forget any cute meet romances here, as Jilly may love the tropes on screen, but knows that they don’t work like that in real life.

Breaking down on their way to Sheet Cake doesn’t exactly help ease things between Jilly and grumpy Case. Thankfully, the loft she rented from Tank Graham has two bedrooms, and they aren’t falling into the one-room trope. As they share dinner at the local diner, Case starts to open up to Jilly – much to her surprise. Although any well-wishes she felt towards Case disappeared the next morning when she woke to find he had already met with Tank, Case quickly explained that it was all football-related.

As they discover the various locations around Sheet Cake, Jilly begins to feel positive about the town as a film location. Case getting more under her skin across the weekend, but as they share kisses, she wonders whether everything will go back to normal once they head back to the office. Seeing messages on his phone doesn’t help Jilly’s anxiety – can they be honest with each other, or will they fall foul of the miscommunication trope?

The Pocket Pair: A Sweet Small-Town Romantic Comedy

Author: Emma St. Clair
Book Series: Love Stories in Sheet Cake Sweet Rom Com Series Book 3

The Pocket Pair is a best friend’s brother, friends to more rom-com set in the fictional small town of Sheet Cake Texas. You’ll find plenty of laughs and sizzling chemistry in this closed door romantic comedy. It’s the third in a series, but can be read as a standalone.

Do I have feelings for my sister’s best friend? Of course not.

That would be stupid, considering my sister once threatened to castrate me if I ever hurt Val.
Hurting her is the last thing I want to do, which is all the MORE reason I can’t have feelings for her. Val deserves the world, and I’m NOT the man who can give it to her.
But when Val announces she’s leaving town (and the country), I’m suddenly confronted with some very capital-F Feelings–ones that refuse to stay stuffed down deep where I’ve hidden them for more years than I care to admit.

Having her crash in my guest bedroom until she leaves only makes things worse.
Little by little, Val chips away at my defenses, and despite all the solid reasons I have, my resolve starts to crumble.
The thing is–none of the circumstances have changed.
Val is still planning to leave the country. And I … well, I might have gotten more in touch with my feelings, but I’m still the same man.

NOT a man who can promise things like life-long commitment. NOT a man Val can count on. NOT the good guy everyone seems to think I am.

If only I could get Val and the rest of this nosy, meddling matchmaking town to believe me–and if my own stubborn heart wasn’t trying to convince me otherwise.

Upping The Ante: A Grumpy Boss Romantic Comedy Novella

Author: Emma St. Clair
Book Series: Love Stories in Sheet Cake Sweet Rom Com Series Book 3.5

Upping the Ante is a novella set in the world of Love Stories in Sheet Cake, where a family of former pro football players buy a small Texas town. Though it can be read totally as a standalone, it fits between The Pocket Pair (book #3 in the series) and The Wild Card (book #4 in the series).

Working for a famous football player sounds like a dream-unless he’s the biggest grump in the world.

When I quit my job, I didn’t expect my boss to chase after me. I mean, Deacon barely spoke to me in the years I worked for him.
Why would he care if I leave?

But when he invites himself along on a road trip to Sheet Cake, Texas where I’m looking to open a coffee shop, I have to wonder what he wants.
Especially when Deacon actually starts being nice.

Is he trying to win me back as an employee … or something else?

Totally Booked UK Review

Recovering after an injury, Deacon Clark has opted not to return to his NFL career. Not entirely sure what the future holds for him, he is taking each day as it comes—attending a gym training session in Austin, Texas with Collin Graham – someone he used to play ball with before they were traded to different teams. With his trusty assistant Kalli close by ready to ensure he has everything he needs etc. Except as he sees her interact with Collin he feels jealous, despite knowing that Collin has a girlfriend.

Working for Deacon over the past few years has been a challenge for Kalli. He is a grumpy-ass man who likes things done a certain way, but he is also very handsome. As he retires from playing, Kalli realises that this is her time to move on, and after organising their trip to Austin, she has also arranged to head over to Sheet Cake to meet with THE Tank Graham about opening her own coffee shop. Despite showing Deacon her resignation email two weeks ago, it is clear that he never read it, and he’s shocked to discover she’s leaving.

Deciding to check that Kalli isn’t about to throw her money away, Deacon invites himself along on her trip to Sheet Cake. Kalli finds it hard to be close to him on the journey, not to mention that the loft Tank organised for her to stay in has only one room. Whilst he may not have really thought about Kalli in a romantic way whilst she was working for him, all bets are off now, and he can’t bear to see them part ways. But a late-night kiss, a broken bed and contract signings all feature as stumbling blocks in their way – can they just stop and accept each other’s love?

The Wild Card: A Sweet Small-Town Romantic Comedy

Author: Emma St. Clair
Book Series: Love Stories in Sheet Cake Sweet Rom Com Series Book 4

The Wild Card is a fake dating (and fake fake dating) closed-door romantic comedy with all the sizzle but none of the spice. Set in the fictional town of Sheet Cake, Texas, this rom-com can be read as a standalone but pairs best with the other books in the series.

Is twenty-three too old for running away? I sure hope not. Because, right now, that’s my current and only life plan.

Desperate to escape the dome of control my father has dropped over my life, I visit my brother in Texas–with no plans to use my return ticket home.
But after spending every cent of my savings to pay off my student loans, I need a job. Stat. Otherwise, I’ll be forced to ask my brother for help and admit how bad things have gotten at home.

So, when the production company I’m interviewing with in Sheet Cake, Texas wants proof that I’ve got long-term roots here, I invent a fake local boyfriend.
Which would have been fine had they not asked to meet him. Today.

I do what any woman in a desperate situation would do: I grab a man who’s giving off boyfriend vibes and ask to borrow him for an hour.
Too bad I didn’t recognize that man as Collin Graham, who just so happens to be the brother of my brother’s wife. (Confusing, I know–but the important part is that we are NOT related.)

When I finally realize who he is, two things are very clear: he knew it was me the whole time, and this fake boyfriend thing is going to be a lot more complicated now that I actually got the job.
On the plus side, fake dating serves Collin’s purposes as well. We’re both a little lost, both deep in life transition–and apparently both struggling with the fake part of the relationship.

I hadn’t planned on coming to Texas and falling in love, especially not when the name of the game is playing pretend. But would dating Collin for real be such a bad thing?
That depends–on how long it takes the reasons we started faking to begin with finally catch up to us both.
