The Heart of a Wounded Hero series was created to pay tribute to and raise awareness of our wounded heroes. Each of the over eighty authors involved has contributed time, money, and stories to the cause. These love stories are inspiring and uplifting, showing the sacrifice of our veterans but also giving them the happily ever after they deserve.

By increasing awareness through their books, they believe we can in a small part help the wounded heroes that have sacrificed so much.

It’s been a month since Logan lost his best friend Noah in a bombing in which he pushed Logan out of the way sacrificing himself for him. A month stuck in a hospital in Jasper, an hour away from home and yet his fiance Harper still hasn’t managed to come to visit him. Getting a text from her to say that she is finally coming in has Logan realising that Noah was right about her and she never cared about him.

Book blogger Ella has been living in the apartment over Logan’s garage for a year. Struggling to find the words for her latest article she is surprised when there is a knock at the door. Finding Harper on the doorstep she is told that she needs to look after Max (Logan’s cat) whilst Logan is in the hospital. She finds out he has been there for a month and that Harper has only just been to visit him.

Rushing to the hospital Ella is keen to help Logan in any way she can – including volunteering to stay with him for a week to keep an eye on him at home, Having loved Logan from afar since she first rented the apartment she is feeling too much for him as she helps him at home. It seems that she’s not alone in the feelings with Logan realising what has been under his nose all this time ut miscommunications threaten to ruin this thing before it has gotten started.

Although the fourth member to their unit opted to re-enlist but is facing being processed out on medical grounds. Hearing why he opted to stay behind has her sending him a reverse Dear John letter.

The only snail mail Hux usually received are flyers or confirmations of automatic bill payments. His friends keep in touch via email or text, so getting a letter is unusual. Reading it pulls something inside of him and has him heading to Mariposa rather than his plot of land in Colorado on his discharge. Unsure whether Ramsey’s letter was an elaborate catfish to get him to visit or not, has him turn up to see Whizzer and meet Ramsey – although he was not prepared for his body’s reaction to her.

Although he realises she had good intentions behind her letter Hux is standoffish with her when she leaves for a shift at the local suicide hotline. Deciding to meet her afterwards to apologise has him saving her from danger and forcing their connection deeper – is he ready to stay or is his plan still to leave?

Not one to make a fuss about his birthday Decker managers to finish work early to head over to his pseudo-grandmother Etta’s cabin for dinner. Josie handing him a six pack on the way out of the brewery with a smirk on her face but doesn’t quite say happy birthday out loud. Finding that Etta has company is a shock to Decker, even more so when he finds out she was sucked into renting the shack next door.

Nothing is going to plan, Decker thinks she is an idiot about the shack and Juliet is so mortified she lies about why she is in town, making up a story about a bucket list. Etta feeling that there is something else going on and tasks Decker with finding out which draws them closer. Unsure of how she can tell him that real reason why she is here but it is clear that she already loves him.
