Heidi Stephens is a British marketing consultant-turned-romcom novelist. Since 2008 she has written lots of liveblogs for The Guardian, about everything from The Apprentice to Big Brother. Now focusing on two of her favourite things – the Eurovision Song Contest and Strictly Come Dancing.
Heidi lives in the lovely market town of Chippenham in Wiltshire with her boyfriend Pip and dog Mabel. As well as having two grown-up children, she can bake a very decent Victoria sponge.

Social distancing rules haven’t stopped Gemma’s boyfriend Fraser from hooking up with someone on their sofa. Emily cannot believe how much her life has changed in the past week or so. From finding out that her married boyfriend of two years and also her boss, has decided to give his marriage another shot. To her room being burnt down after one of her flatmates used her GHD straighteners and forgot to unplug them. Now finding herself back at her parent’s house, in her old room that has been converted into a craft room.
Needing to move forward with her life she applies for a couple of PA roles, one of which is with an individual based in Norfolk. After a visit to the estate, she decided to accept the role although meeting the stablehand has her thinking twice about swearing off men – until she finds out that he is the boss’s youngest son and she declares – it’s never gonna happen. Especially as he has a gorgeous, willowy girlfriend who is based in London.
Throwing herself into her new role she manages to navigate Mr Hunter’s expectations but can’t understand why the housekeeper Anna is standoffish with her. Getting riding lessons from Jamie has them forming a friendship. Emily invites him home for Christmas when he forgoes the Hunter Christmas plans. Whilst they work well together it appears that others around them don’t wish for them to be together. Can they make this thing work?
