One Day in December by Josie Silver

Laurie is pretty sure love at first sight doesn’t exist. After all, life isn’t a scene from the movies, is it? But then, through a misted-up bus window one freezing day, she sees a man she knows instantly is the one. Their eyes meet, there’s a moment of pure magic… and then her bus drives away.

Laurie thinks she’ll never see the boy from the bus again. But at a party later that year, her best friend Sarah introduces her to the new love of her life. Who is, of course, the boy from the bus.

Determined to let him go, Laurie gets on with her life. But what if fate has other plans?

A beautiful story following the lives of Laurie and Jack who met by a chance encounter – but it’s only a fleeting glance at a bus stop through a misted-up bus window one snowy December day. Circumstances take a turn when they meet again and are tortured into a love triangle as he is dating her best friend. The premise of a winding tale that follows young Londoners through the course of their lives, the highs and lows of love and friendship. The perfect cold weather rom-com that has you wondering whether they will ever get their happily ever after.

Following Laurie, Sarah and Jack through ten years of love, heartbreak and friendship, One Day in December is an uplifting and immensely moving love story for fans of Jojo Moyes, Sarah Morgan and Coleen Hoover.

The Two Lives of Lydia Bird by Josie Silver

What if you could live your great love story again?

Lydia and Freddie. Freddie and Lydia. They’ve been together for almost a decade, and are just about to get married. But then, on Lydia’s 27th birthday, Freddie dies in a tragic car accident.

Then something unbelievable happens. Lydia gets another chance at her old life with Freddie.

But what if there’s someone in her new life who wants her to stay?

A gorgeously romantic love story for fans of PS I Love You and Me Before You, this novel will make you laugh, cry and remind you of what a wonderful gift it is to love and to be loved.

I’m torn as to how I feel about this book. It follows the journey of Lydia Bird whose fiance dies in a car crash on her birthday. Switching between her life awake and the alternative reality she dreams whilst she sleeps – with the help of pink sleeping pills given to her by the doctor. Which made me uncomfortable, however, I can understand why she would want to dream about what life could have been like.

One Night on the Island

One cottage. Two Strangers.

Every great love story starts somewhere…

Cleo writes about love stories every day. She just isn’t living one of her own.

When the editor of her dating column asks her to marry herself on a remote Irish island – a sensational piece to mark Cleo’s thirtieth birthday – Cleo agrees. She’s alone but not lonely, right? She can handle a solo adventure.

Cleo arrives at her luxury cabin to find a tall, dark, stubborn American who insists it’s actually his. Mack refuses to leave, and Cleo won’t budge either. With a storm fast approaching, they reluctantly hunker down together. It’s just one night, after all . . .

But what if one night on the island is just the beginning?

Did you know that flamingoes mate for life? Something that Women’s Weekly dating columnist Cleo Wilder knows all about. Sharing her dating highs and lows over the last few years. As she approaches her 30th birthday her friend and editor Ali pitches an assignment to her. Following Emma Watson’s recent marrying herself revelation, her editor thinks it would be a great thing for her to do too, Arranging for her to complete a solo retreat on Salvation Island off the Irish coast in the Atlantic Ocean.

Finally coming around to the somewhat wacky idea, Cleo finds herself on the island and face to face with the American she encountered on the boat. A mess-up over accommodation bookings and weekly boats to the mainland leads to them becoming roommates in a remote one-room cabin– somewhat begrudgingly (and involving a chalk line). Photographer Mack Sullivan is on the island from Boston, there to discover the heritage, charm and magic of the island he has heard so much about from his mom and gran. Separated from his wife for a year now, things have become difficult to bear and his two sons become affected by things he thought that some time away would be best.

Tissues at the ready for a story of self-discovery, moving on from a life you thought you were always going to have and micro-love affairs. As Cleo and Mack navigate their own personal journeys alongside the growing connection between them. Loving the three things they share each night in the dark before going to sleep. Discovering a warm welcome on the island Cleo makes some big decisions about her life, love and what the future holds for her.
