A slow (very slow) burn story featuring Mo (aka Maureen Jackson) an app developer who finds herself fired after working on her own app during company time. In her defence, she only did this when waiting for her next assignment. Leicester-born Mo moved to London three years ago and rents a small flat in Deptford with Beth. Deciding that Mo needs cheering up after being fired Beth arranges for her friends to get together for drinks, which is how Mo meets Rob in the Jesters Bar.
Rob doesn’t gain a great first impression with Mo and she throws away the business card and job offer that he gave to Beth. Their paths cross again as she starts working in a coffee shop as a stop-gap after her laptop dies and the app she had been working on had been deleted from her old company server. As the weeks go by Mo finds herself called upon to fix issues in each of her friendship circles’ lives, being somewhat of an agony aunt to them all. Finally biting the bullet and reaching out to Rob about the app job he mentioned.
Sworn off men for the time being after her ex, Adam, cheated on her she is reluctant to accept a dinner date with Rob but agrees of she gets the job. Stating it is not-a-date dinner, they get on well, until her first day at work and she finds out that he is the CEO and everyone thinks that they are dating. Finding her feet in her new role, Mo wonders if putting a years pause on a date with Rob was too much, but will she ever find the right time to tell him?
