Totally Booked UK Review: Life at home with his parents was hard to say the least for Stephen Maguire. Soon learning to take the beatings from his da and stay out of the house during the day whilst his ma slept. It was whilst he was out wondering the streets of Dublin that a 10 year old Stephen came across a little girl who was having a birthday party and welcomed him in as though he was a long lost friend. Her family treating him as part of the family over the years that followed and landing a job with Jerry Houlihan, leading him to new friendships and the end of his da’s behaviour.
All Jessica Grave has wanted to do is to dance, a way to escape the tension at home from her da. But when her ma is killed whilst out grabbing medicine for Jessica her life turns upside down. At 14 years old she is unsure what the future looks like, attending her ma’s funeral in a daze, hoping that the family who tell her that they will always be there for her are true to their word. But it is a chance meeting with Stephen who makes her body reawaken and take note of the main in front of her.
Stephen aware of the age gap between them and her young age, he opts to watch over her from the shadows. As the years pass he notes how her light has dimmed and that she is so very alone. The pain Jessica has felt at the hands of her da would make made men weep never mind a young girl but she has endured it all whilst her family has kept their distance. But aa Thomas’ actions come to light, Stephen is there to ensure Jess is protected from harm but Thomas isn’t finished with her yet – can Stephen find her before it is too late?
