Renting a small apartment above Motif Gallery where she works and showcases her artwork. Much to the disgust of her family, her father is especially vocal about it at family dinners. Whilst her brother Leo isn’t keen either he does understand her quest for independence, although he won’t compromise on her safety and has a security team following his little sister.

Spotting a beautiful woman emerging from an alleyway, self-made billionaire Emerson LeBlanc feels compelled to follow her. Seeing her disappear near an art gallery he heads inside to find a beautiful haunting painting of an ocean that draws him in. He requests a private viewing with the artist but the gallery owner states that she doesn’t offer them. He leaves a note for the artist with a place to see the ocean for a commission but completes his research into who DM is.

Surprised that the Collector is the same man from the beach, Daphne is conflicted about how she feels about Emerson. Leaving gifts for her, Daphne’s family feel she has gained a stalker but she plays it off as just a collector in pursuit of new art. As their paths cross he draws her into his orbit and when she calls him to escape for a while she is in for a surprise when she becomes his latest acquisition.

Daphne Morelli has always lived in a gilded cage, protected for the most part from her father by her brother Leo (the Beast of Bishop’s Landing). Whilst she wanted to spend time with Emerson LeBlanc she never realised she’d be swapping one cage for another. To be kept as a prized acquisition hidden away from the world and purely for him to look at and enjoy as a piece of art. Her body betrays her as she finds that the possessiveness he shows excites her and as much as she feels she shouldn’t want this, she is leaning into the actions.

Having Daphne in his personal space shouldn’t feel as good as it does but she fits perfectly into Emerson’s beach-fronted home. Insisting her with a fully fitted studio in the hopes of watching her create her art as she views the ocean beyond the large window panes. Fascinated by the way she attempts to push back about her captivity and sudden loss of contact with the outside world.

An art delivery allows Daphne to escape the house and head into the ocean but Emerson is beside himself when he only just makes it to her in time to save her from the waves. Time spent in a cave before Emerson’s brother Sinclair arrives has them learning things about each other. Daphne realises some of the pain behind his eyes and some of the reasons he is the way he is. They fall into a life together at the house, opening up about past hurts, however, visits from Emerson’s family bring two very different outcomes.

Last Resort: The Collector Trilogy Book 3 by Amelia Wilde

Emerson LeBlanc lost more than an acquisition. He lost the woman he loves.

Back within the Morelli family fold at Leo’s Bishop’s Landing house, Daphne is happy to see her own family again and relieve their worries about her being taken. Although she can’t help but wonder what is happening to Emerson, is he safe? Is he OK? She finds herself attempting to be the girl she once was for her siblings but is unable to sketch or paint. Spending endless hours wandering around the house and gardens, unsure what to do with herself.

Leaving Daphne behind was quite possibly one of the hardest things Emerson has had to do but he knows it was through a panic attack on his brother Will’s apartment. His body and mind are still on high alert being this far from home and without Daphne. Heading home in the middle of the night he finds that he is not alone when he returns to his beach house – Leo Morelli is sitting in his office. Ready to face the repercussions of his actions he is surprised when Daphne and Carter arrive to break things up.

Realising that Daphne is no longer a child and can make her own decisions, Leo reluctantly leaves her with Emerson. They quickly fall back into their routine together and feel as though they can make a go of things, however, concerns from his brothers about his father throwing a spanner in the works. When something happens Daphne, and Emerson need to reach out for Leo’s help but will they be too late?
